Pour Some Sugar on Me

Picture
I have a confession: I despise shaving my legs. Is there anything worse than having to stand on one foot like a flamingo in the shower, holding my balance while trying to make sure no water washes away the soap and I don’t miss any hair? No, the answer is no. Well, I have good news! There is a long[er] term solution to shaving: body sugaring. I’ll admit, it’s awfully painful the first time but it gets better as you go along and it lasts for about 4-6 weeks between appointments!
There are so many benefits to using sugar as opposed to wax when removing hair! First and foremost, sugaring is a 100% natural method of hair removal. SugarMama has a product made of sugar, lemon juice, and water. Sugar of the Nile also has a sugar solution but I’m not sure what’s in it, all I know is you can eat it! Maybe it has some kind of chocolate in it because they always ask me if I’m allergic
When waxing, you rip against the hair growth so it basically just breaks the hair at the skin level. When sugaring it’s the opposite, you rip with the hair growth so that you remove the entire hair from the follicle. This means you stay smooth longer and it’s less painful! You also get less ingrown hairs this way.
Finally, sugar can’t fasten itself to live skin, only dead skin. You’re getting exfoliated while you remove the hair! Wax attaches to live skin which is extremely painful and leaves you all red after as it rips the healthy skin off along with the hair. Ouchie!
If none of that convinces you to try it, think of all the razor blades and empty cans of shave gel that you will be keeping out of landfills that take forever and a day to break down. Say goodbye to razor burn and hello to sugar, you’ll be glad you did!
