11/8/2014 0 Comments Little Girl, Big DreamsWell, I have decided to bite the metaphorical bullet and join the world of writing. Excuse my lack of clever wording, I’m more of a “shoot, I should have said it ___ way” after-the-fact kind of writer. I’m hoping that you’ll find my blog both informative and at times, funny – I like to think I have my hilarious moments. Anyways, my name is Ashley and I have recently taken a huge interest in natural health. Ever since I was little, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. I put my sister and friends through many torturing hours of playing “school”, even conning them into playing school in exchange for me playing Barbies with them… where the Barbies would go to school. Sorry, not sorry. I did go to university and received my teaching degree in 2013, however before completing it, I had already started to drift in another direction.
In 2010, life changed for what I thought was the worse but really ended up being the BEST thing life could have thrown at me.. thank you R. I moved Down Unda at the ripe age of 22 and was introduced to a whole new way of life thanks to the wonderful family I au paired for. They are seriously the greenest people I know. Mind you, drying my clothes outside in January here in Winterpeg doesn’t really work and the water in my tanks would definitely freeze.. but one huge thing I brought home was some basic knowledge about aromatherapy. I got really sick after eating a tofu stir fry in Aus (haven’t touched it again to this day) and couldn’t stop throwing up – hours and hours of sheer misery. In the morning, Lisa brought up some Peppermint EO to burn. I was so hesitant but she promised to take it away if it didn’t help. No exaggeration, after 8 straight hours of [not] sleeping on the bathroom floor, I stopped throwing up within 10 minutes and could finally sleep! Hallelujah! Ever since, I have been a firm believer in natural remedies. Once I finished my teaching degree, I promptly signed up for an aromatherapy certification course. I am working hard towards this so that I can start an all natural beauty line, Sauvage Beauty. Lisa has her own line in Australia and she is truly my inspiration to get this going – she’s amazing at what she does and I hope to be just as good as her in time! (I miss you!) So having said that, I thought this blog would be great to keep my own thoughts and findings organized, and in the meantime maybe some of you will learn a thing or two! I often get the feeling that people think I’m “weird” for putting my faith into natural health when modern medicine has come so far, however two people who are very near and dear to me have reminded me that all the greats were looked at as strange when they first got started. So I’ll leave you with this: “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” – Steve Jobs Love, Ash XO
