29/4/2015 0 Comments Life Down Under: Week 13When do you feel connected, flowing, at peace? When do you feel constricted? These days, pressures to do more and be more can throw you off balance. Happiness can seem a revolutionary art. That’s when it’s time to take a moment. To ditch struggle and get back in touch with your fundamental self – believing in your perfect worth. That often involves refining your sensitivity and sense of connection – through such life style choices as yoga and meditation and time spent in nature. It is ultimately about getting in touch with what’s real. And nurturing yourself. Your patient caring for yourself – and for other living things – now becomes your gift. – Taken from an Aveda excerpt

20/4/2015 0 Comments Clay: Not Just for Arts & CraftsOne of my favorite facial products to use that I think are really overlooked are Facial Clay Masks. Judging by the feedback I have received, most people don’t use masks which I was really surprised about. I think in North America, they’re viewed as a luxury item you get at a spa, not as a necessity in your skin care routine. Coming from someone who has a lot of trouble with my skin with the slightest climate change, I’m telling you that masks are powdery miracles.
Fun fact #1: Smell is the first of your five senses to develop and right when you’re born, it’s fully functional. Babies use their sense of smell to decipher who their mom is.
Fun fact #2: It’s easier to smell scents in the spring and summer as there is more moisture in the air. 21/12/2014 0 Comments Seasonal Scents Week 3: Fir NeedleI am writing this post while listening to Drummer Boy by Biebs and I’m not afraid to admit it! It’s ALMOST as good as the version that local talent Sean Quigley put out a couple years ago – if you’ve been living under a rock, check it out because he did a great job!
So, here we are, a few days before Christmas and into the third week of the Seasonal Scents mini series. 14/12/2014 0 Comments Seasonal Scents Week 2: Sweet OrangeLast week I talked about some of the benefits of incorporating peppermint into your daily life and this week, following the holiday theme, I’ve chosen Sweet Orange. Unfortunately I don’t get to eat many Christmas oranges at home because my mom and sister get cold sores from eating them and they go bad before I am able to finish the box myself. But they are so delicious when I do get my hands on them!
